In the final stretch leading up to the holiday shopping season, Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) is making it even easier for multi-touch fans to get their hands on the iconic iPhone 3G. Rather than having eager iPhone 3G hopefuls waiting in lines to get their own iPhone 3G or buy one (or a handful) for friends and loved ones, Apple has gone live with an online iPhone 3G purchasing process.

The online iPhone 3G ordering process allows customers to go online, buy their iPhone 3G from a local Apple retail store location, and simply walk into the store to pickup and activate their new iPhone 3G handset. And, with in-home iPhone 3G activations rumored to be making a comeback for the holiday shopping season, Apple looks to be making a real push to move massive volumes of iPhone 3G units for the holidays.
