Don’t you just love the ever growing numbers from China? A single country has more mobile subscribers than whole of Europe.
As a matter of fact, as of the end of August this year there were 616.02 million subscribers of mobile communication services in the “world’s fastest growing economy.” The number represents 45.6% of the country’s population, leaving tons of place for further growth.
As for the percentages, the number of mobile phone users was growing by 1.26% on month and 19.46% on year, according to statistics published by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
In terms of SMS traffic, mobile phone subscribers in China sent 57.31 billion text messages in August 2008. To put it in other words, that’s 3.02 messages per subscription a day.
Finally, if anyone cares about fixed telecommunication networks, there were 354.07 million subscribers using good ol’ landlines at the end of August 2008.
