Who says outlying US territories can’t have some fun with AT&T (NYSE: T)’s hottest mobile phone?
Apparently, AT&T is expanding their iPhone 3G footprint by rolling out the iconic iPhone 3G in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. With plenty of 3G network coverage in Puerto Rico (who knew?), iPhone 3G hopefuls in the US territory will be getting a good dose of some of Apple (NSDQ: AAPL)’s finest come October 17. Those in the Virgin Islands, however, aren’t going to be using their iPhone 3G for anything having to do with “3G,” seeing as how they don’t have any 3G coverage to speak of.
“iPhone will arrive for AT&T customers in Puerto Rico on October 17,” said Jose Juan Davila, vice president and general manager of AT&T’s wireless operations in Puerto Rico. “AT&T is committed to offering the most innovative products and services to our customers, and we are pleased to be part of this great milestone in our market.”
Expect the iPhone 3G’s Puerto Rican and Virgin Island-ianĀ price-tag to mirror those in the US.
