Want to make a track with Wyclef? Then enter the comp!

Motorola have emailed me to let me know about a VERY cool new competition they are running – giving you the opportunity to be a MOTOROKR Star, and win the chance to create a record a track with none other than WYCLEF JEAN!

Wyclef Jean (for probably the one person reading this that doesn’t know) exploded in to RnB with the pioneering group THE FUGEES, only to further push the boundaries of the genre with his melodic, souful fusions. Most influential man in Hip Hop / RnB in the last 10-15 years? Well, he’s a contender….

Anyhow, rather than me explain how the competition works, here’s the official blurb:

To be in with a chance of winning the competition you need to have purchased one of the following Motorola handsets in the United Kingdom between October 1st, 2008 and December 31st, 2008; MOTOROKR™ E8, MOTO™ EM32511, MOTO™ EM3301, MOTO™ RAZR2 V9, MOTO™ RAZR V8, MOTO™ U9, MOTOJEWEL™1, MOTOZINE™ ZN51 or MOTO™ Z10. You can upload your audition without buying a phone first, but you will need to have proof of purchase if you are picked as a winner.

In the ‘How To Enter’ section you will find 9 carefully selected audition tracks to show off your unique vocal style. Record yourself and upload your vocal audition, singing one of the tracks – a capella, or self-accompanied with your favourite instrument. Once you are happy, go to the Upload your audition section, and once we have checked your submission, so that there is nothing that might be offensive or in breach of the competiton Rules we will post them on www.motorola.com/motorokrstar.

Then it is over to you. Get as many of your friends and family as possible to check out your audition and rate you. Of course, people that don’t know you, may also vote for you too. The Top 100 highest ranked auditions will then go through to the next round – the quarter finals.

Our panel of judges will review each of the Top 100 and choose the best 10 auditions based on raw talent, future potential etc. These 10 become the semi-finalists and go through to the next round and win themselves an all expenses paid trip to New York City.

So if you fancy teaming up with Wyclef, then use you clicking finger and follow the link here.

Ben is a 10+ year veteran of the Mobile industry – starting his career when SMS was a still a relatively new concept for most people (!), he has now consulted on everything from bleeding-edge Mobile content, to the next-gen accessories you might view it on. As a result he has a broad and deep knowledge in numerous areas of Mobile – from network operators to device vendors, to infrastructure and middleware vendors (not to mention content delivery) – and has worked for companies in all of these areas! He is based in the UK, a hotbed of activity for mobile, and recently became a father for the second time – as oppose to in his younger years when he was happy spend time tweaking all manner of mobile devices to 'nth' degree, he now looks for services and hardware that provide the most efficient, compact, and reliable improvements to his already manic life! It’s his opinion that Mobile solutions should be there to help to make your life better – if a particular solution (be it service or device) isn’t doing this, he believes you need to ask the very important question of why you continue to use it... His focus at IntoMobile is mainly on Mobile content, services, and infrastructure, particularly as regards the UK market – and with the occasional look at devices. Additionally, using his extensive experience in the industry, he will provide commentary on the industry at large, with regular (and hopefully thought-provoking) articles.
