Idea: Sony Ericsson should make a portable keyboard

Here’s an idea – Sony Ericsson (NYSE: SNE) should make a portable keyboard. It doesn’t have to be Bluetooth though, they could use their universal Fast-Port for the purpose. After all that port is present on all their phones and it is used for charging the phone, connecting it to a computer and for connecting headsets. Let me make this clear – I hate that port, but if it’s already there on tons of their devices, they could actually make some serious use of that. Just imagine a scenario where you have a small foldable keyboard that could be connected to any Sony Ericsson phone. That could be useful for texting and even email.
Alternatively, they could make a small gamepad that could also take advantage of that port. Any thoughts?

They used to have a portable keyboard for the R520. You plugged it in below the keypad and voila, you had a qwerty phone.
I hate that proprietary connector too… it’s awful…

They had a miniature keyboard (Chatboard CHA-01) for ericsson A1018 and the like. It is in fact still sold in some places for just $2. I bought 2 of them for starting. I am going to make them Bluetooth capable and able to communicate with my Nokia E51.
I had one of these in the early 00’s. Looks very cool, but damned if I could make it work back then. Also was kind of big(!? uncomfortable in my pocket at least)to carry it around. It was cool to look at and had a curved bottom. Time to go Back To The Future!
