Nokia XpressMusic 5800

Next year sounds like a long time to wait for the Nokia XpressMusic 5800, but luckily there are some sticky-fingered reviewers out there willing to give it the full run-down right now. Folks were quick to pit the Tube against the iPhone (as we do with just about any touchscreen smartphone nowadays), but the reviewers point out that the two are in different leagues altogether. On the whole, the XpressMusic gets nothing but praise – fine call quality, good features, lots of multimedia, and very few OS problems. Russia will supposedly be getting in on October 5th., and then coming to Europe in 2009 for 279 € before subsidies. The low price point will be a big factor in competing with the other full touchscreen devices out there and hopefully set a new standard for other manufacturers.

Simon Sage’s education largely surrounded writing, technology and online community, leading him to begin his blogging career at www.BlackBerryCool.com and to quickly discover a vibrant and active community surrounding BlackBerry and mobile technology. In exploring RIM’s platform, he has learned what enterprises are looking for in mobility as well as what makes the innocuous BlackBerry so appealing to them. Recently Simon’s been covering RIM’s gradual move into an already-crowded consumer market, and the impact of burgeoning challengers, such as the iPhone, as well as long-time leaders, like Nokia, on BlackBerry’s advancement. With plenty of content under his belt, Simon will be branching off a bit to see what other smartphone manufacturers are working on while still using BlackBerry as a barometer. At IntoMobile, you can count on his posts being even-handed, well-informed and thought-out.

Nice looking phone from the photo, especially the size. One of my objections to iPhone is its size…just too wide and tall for me.
