Google Maps Street View on Windows Mobile

No, Google hasn’t released a new Google Maps update with Street View functionality for the Windows Mobile camp. With the new Street View functionality announced for the T-Mobile G1, iPhone/iPhone 3G, and the BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) lineup of smartphones, Windows Mobile users are left out in the cold.

But, it doesn’t have to be that way.

Enterprising xda-developers member KDKobes has gotten the Java-based Google Maps 2.3.1 application for BlackBerry handsets working on his AT&T (NYSE: T) Tilt (HTC Kaiser), complete with Street View functionality. Unfortunately, location-data support and GPS integration aren’t working with this version of Google Maps running on Windows Mobile, but it’s definitely a start.

I finally got Google Maps 2.3.1 on my Tilt with the Street View function. As of right now it is not available on Windows Mobile devices through Google just Blackberry and some Java devices, but I managed to find it with this function in Java form and it is working on my Tilt. – KDKobes

Download and install KDKobes Google Maps Street View 2.3.1 here.
