android tech Chinas TechFaith to start making Android smartphones next year

Chinese company TechFaith Wireless Communication Technology will begin commercial production of mobile devices that are running Android in early 2009.

At the moment details are sketchy, to say the least, but we do know the prototype unit is “in general” completed. Apparently, we’ll have more details — including the form factor and the partner company — during November. And that’s about all we know at present.

In the meantime, I can only add that TechFaith works with such mobile companies as Motorola (NYSE: MOT), LG, Amoi, CECT, France Telecom, SK Telecom (NYSE: SKM), Sprint (NYSE: S) and Bird. Can’t wait to hear more about this…
