Is this some kind of record? 100K new subs in one day!

Apparently Brazilian Opertator “Oi” has sold 100K prepay SIM cards in Sao Paulo on the first day of marketing it’s service there!
I wonder if this has to be some kind of record for new subs acquired – it’s certainly a high number! The only other device/subscription that I can think has generated as high volumes would be the new iPhone – but I am not sure what that device did when it launched over over in say just California….
…. well at any rate I bet the customer service teams and their CRM system over at Oi will be nice and busy!
