Gmail Causing iPhone Mail to Crash

iPhone Atlas has reported a little tidbit that should be important for anyone with an iPhone that uses Gmail. Several users have reported to them that accessing Gmail accounts causes the iPhone Mail app to crash over and over again. Even other apps, like contacts or calendar crash when there is some Gmail data in play.

If you have experienced or are experiencing these problems, there are 3 potential fixes:

  1. Try resetting your network settings: Settings > General > Reset Network Settings
  2. Try Changing your Password. Go to Gmail on your Mac or PC and change the account password. Then, delete the Gmail account from your iPhone and set it up from scratch again.
  3. As a last resort… Try restoring your iPhone in iTunes.

Hopefully these fixes do the trick if you’re having problems. I’m not running Gmail on my iPhone so I hadn’t noticed this at all. Do leave a comment if these fixes helped, or if you have any other suggestions to fix the problem!
