On the whole, the OtterBox 1937 is just about the toughest case you can get for your BlackBerry while still being practical and portable. It might not be hardcore enough for whitewater rafting trips, but can handle any other mid-rugged environment you could throw at it. The OtterBox for the BlackBerry Bold builds off of a lot of tricks established for the BlackBerry Curve and Pearl versions, but does make substantial improvements for RIM’s current flagship device. The few small hangups including an overly tight holster, a flash-muddling camera protector, and a couple errant bubbles are easily outweighed by the overall strong craftsmanship and preservation of the Bold’s outstanding speaker quality. The price might seem high, but as an insurance policy on your Bold, you’ll be happy you had one. Heck, Boy Genius would have been. If a flimsy silicone bumper is not enough and a cast-iron safe is too much, the OtterBox is right for you. Interested? Grab one now for $49.95.

  1. Darin Teichmer says:

I have this cover and found that it causes echo back to the calling party. This is due to the audio traveling from the speaker down the sides of the case (the hard shell portion) and playing back to the calling party through the microphone. The echo is extremely bad as told to me by the callers. I have proven it is the case by removing the case during the call and the echo is gone. Only known work-around is to use blue tooth.

OK, I know it is important to protect my phone, but Otterbox cases are utterly useless if I actually want to use my phone. All I get from the case is an instant brick if I need to throw my phone at someone!
