AdMob September 2008 Metrics report is out now. The number of mobile sites and applications in AdMob’s network increased to more than 6,000, with 4,308 publishers requesting ads in September 2008.

Here are the highlights from the report:

  • Worldwide, top four used handsets are Motorola (NYSE: MOT) RAZR, Nokia (NYSE: NOK) N70, Motorola KRZR and the Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) iPhone. There were 103 million ad requests from iPhones in September 2008.
  • In the US, 16 of the current top 20 devices are new from September 2007. These new devices include popular Samsung Instinct and Apple iPhone handsets. However, the Motorola RAZR and KRZR are still the top two handsets in the United States today.
  • In the UK, the Nokia N95 gained share steadily throughout the year and is now the leading handset with 9.7% share of requests. The Sony Ericsson (NYSE: SNE) K800i and W850i, the number 1 and number 4 handsets respectively in September 2007, both remain in the Top 5 a year later.
  • Worldwide ad requests fell 0.8% month over month to 5.1 billion, while ads served increased 26% to 4.5 billion.
  • U.S. requests grew 8.8% to 1.9 billion in September 2008.
