The Chief Administrative Office (CAO), which oversees all communications systems for the House, has been testing iPhones to see how they meet the needs of congressmen and their staffs.

With nearly 8,200 units installed, BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) is the current rulers of the House. However, that could change as a number of people had requested iPhones as an option.

In order to deal with the House staff needs, the CAO will need a new server for the iPhones — at the moment, they’re relying on BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

If iPhone get in da House, that would be another major victory for Apple (NSDQ: AAPL). Unfortunately, it’s the taxpayers who will help Cupertino fight in the smartphone world, rather than congressmen themselves.

Yeah because with the Blackberries it happens otherwise, right?

No one said they need new BlackBerries. They should keep the current models. ;)
