Everyone and their mama are “going iPhone” these days. Ralph Lauren, who is not strange to the mobile world, is following the hype by launching a free dedicated app for Apple’s handset users.

The application allows you to watch video highlights from the Fall 2008 runway show, go behind the scenes with the Backstage Pass photo gallery, look ahead to the Spring 2009 runway show, locate stores around the world, look at the artist at work through the short film “Portraits of a Collection.”

In a nutshell, it’s an iPhone optimized website turned application. You can’t buy stuff from the app, nor read those QR codes, which are featured in Ralph Lauren ads. Hopefully, they’ll bring these two important features in future releases. In the meantime, a simple visit to the designer’s website is more than enough.
