AT&T Fuze in-hand at AT&T store

We’ve been waiting on pins and needles for AT&T to go live with their own-branded variant of the highly acclaimed HTC Touch Pro. With that beautiful full-VGA touchscreen display, slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 3.2 megapixel camera, GPS, WiFi, and 3G data connection, the HTC Touch Pro is definitely the premier Windows Mobile smartphone in the US. But, for those of you that can’t muster the wallet-dwindling price-tag for an unlocked HTC Touch Pro, the AT&T Fuze is a subsidized dream.

Almost identical to the HTC Touch Pro, the AT&T Fuze lacks only the front-facing video-call camera on the HTC Touch Pro. With the curvier design aesthetic, the AT&T Fuze may very well be the better looking variant. And, since AT&T will be subsidizing this handset to bring it within reach of your average Joe’s bankroll, the AT&T Fuze is almost a no-brainer for any QWERTY-loving smartphone fan.

So, imagine our excitement when we heard that AT&T Fuze demonstration units were starting to pop up in AT&T corporate stores! The arrival of the AT&T Fuze at AT&T stores signals the near-term arrival of the AT&T Fuze, and it couldn’t come a moment too soon. With the holiday shopping season just over the horizon, AT&T is aiming to push their Fuze our to customers in time for the buying rush.

Keep an eye out for the AT&T Fuze!

I saw on xda developers.com that the 3d touch flow was taken out of the att version. Anyone know?

Spy pics and leaks of AT&T branded HTC Touch Pro (AT&T Fuze) handsets show that TouchFLO 3D is still being used, albeit with AT&T branding plastered all over the UI.

TouchFLO 3D is integral to the HTC Touch Pro experience, I doubt HTC nor AT&T would do away with the UI.

The display models at AT&T stores for the Fuze are pretty slow, and make the phone seem very sluggish, yet I hear the phone is pretty fast in terms of loading its own applications. Touchflo3d also wasn’t as quick nor as responsive as I’ve heard as well. Out of the box, is the Fuze generally sluggish, or was there just problems with the display models?

Also, way too many people I know are suggesting the iPhone over the Fuze, including the store workers themselves, and a big issue seems to be Windows Mobile. What would be the pro’s and con’s of Winmo for a Winmo noobie? For those that own both the iPhone and the Fuze, what do you like and dislike about each phone?
