Vodafone UK’s new USB Stick Pro HSPA modem is easy to carry around thanks to the retractable USB connector

Here’s a kind of USB modem I always wanted. Vodafone UK’s new USB Stick Pro is nothing special in terms of the look — all it has is a retractable USB connector which makes the device way easier to carry around. In addition, there’s also a microSD memory card slot that turns the modem into a USB flash drive.

As for the speed, in theory you should be able to get download speeds of up 7.2Mbps and upload speeds of up to 2Mbps. In real life, however, expect downlink to go anywhere between 1 and 5 Mbps and uplink at around 1Mbps.

Vodafone is also introducing a new 1GB a day plan for 15 GBP, which compliments the existing 3GB a day plan for 20 GBP. With any of these plans, the USB Stick Pro costs 49 GBP, which is not that bad…
