Costco to Sell the iPhone 3G at a New, Lower Price?

Looking to get your hands on an iPhone 3G at a slight discount? You may be in luck come January 2009.
Rumor has it that the iPhone 3G will be heading to Costco Wholesale Stores come Q1 of 2009. The analyst group Global Equities Research has noted that not only will the device be available at Costco, but it will sell at a lower price of $149.99. Now doesn’t this open up a can of worms?
I’m sure most of us had a sneaky suspicion that the iPhone 3G would see a significant price drop on the cusp of the holiday season shopping frenzy. On top of that, new lower prices for the existing models would open up the door for a new 32GB or HD model to swoop in at the existing 16GB price point.
Take the rumor for what it’s worth, as Global Equities Research hasn’t named any sources for their information. Interesting that this news comes out on the heels of Orange announcing they will sell the iPhone 3G for €99 for the holidays.
What does Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) have up their sleeve… Hmmm? Price drops for the holidays me thinks!

I love Costco! Not only do they sell phones for cheaper prices than the carriers, but they usually include an accessory bundle (case and car charger) and have an excellent return policy.
