The Contour Hardskin case on the iPhone 3G

Yee-argh. Cases make your iPhone look ugly. I’ve heard some reports recently that they can even scratch your iPhone. That SUCKS. But, if it’s the right case, it can provide much needed protective haven for the uber-device – hence my purchase of one.

And to be fair, I’ve got a strange one – it’s a case from a company called Contour and the specific model is the “Contour HardSkin iPhone 3G Case”. Any of you got one?

I say it’s a strange case for a couple of reasons – first of all, it really only protects from abrasion, not impact – because the case splits in two (quite easily) along the edges – meaning if it took a bang the case would boomerang away, spilling it’s contents on to a (probably hard) surface.

It’s also not the cheapest thing ever – £20 is a bit steep methinks, but who has got time to browse the InterWeb for (a) the right case at (b) the right price? Not me these days…

So am I using the case? No. Why? Well…

1) I’ve yet to find a screen protector I like (see here) – a case without a screen protector is like shoes without laces….

2) It’s doesn’t protect from impacts

3) It’s just a little little little bit ugly

But other than that, the case performs to spec – it has some silly, strange clippable covers for the power and volume buttons, but you’ll bin them immediately if you get this case – I did.

So overall it’s like a 6.5/10 for the case – does anyone have a better suggestion to protect the iPhone 3G? If so, comments please!

(You can check out the case here)

dude, you got to double up on what you need, i have an ipod and i am just as careful with my devices as with anybody who spends their well earned cash, to keep my ipod/iphone INTACT AS THE DAY I BOUGHT IT. i would reccommend you to buy an invisible shield for the fresh out of the box look all the time. and then buy a silicone case or a sleeve. that should take care of all of your worries. i you ever purchase an invisible shield i would not recommend you to put in a felt-lined case, the shield by nature is a tacky material and it wil become very difficult to remove it with ease. so that’s why i would go with a invisible shield and any attractive looking silicone sleeve..best of luck

I would recommend the Invisible SHIELD as well. It’s the best way to keep your phone in great condition – without necessarily changing it’s look. http://www.InvisibleSkinz.com
