Merriam-Webster’s Unabridged Edition, Spanish-English & French-English dictionaries hit the AppStore

Again and again we see Paragon Software pushing new dictionaries through Apple (NSDQ: AAPL)’s AppStore. Their latest announcement involves release of Merriam-Webster’s dictionaries - one explanatory and two bilingual Spanish-English and French-English dictionaries.

America’s most comprehensive and authoritative dictionary, Merriam-Webster’s Third New International Dictionary, Unabridged provides the most extensive coverage of American English. Its database contains more than 476,000 entries with more than 143,000 etymologies detailing word origins, 100,000 quotations and 1,100 synonyms paragraphs. Once installed, the dictionary can be accessed anywhere, any time, without Internet connection or additional charges.

Merriam-Webster’s French-English Dictionary provides the most extensive coverage of Canadian French with more than 80,000 entry words and phrases and 100,000 translations, as well as abundant examples of words used in context. Merriam-Webster’s Spanish-English Dictionary covers Latin American and European Spanish, and contains more than 80,000 entries and 100,000 translations.

As expected, Paragon’s proven SlovoEd engine is running the show in the background, consuming minimum of memory space while at the same time allowing users to quickly perform multiple lookups.

As for the pricing, Merriam-Webster’s Third New International Dictionary, Unabridged, Spanish-English and French-English are available for $59.99, $24.99 and $24.99, respectively from the AppStore.
