Cricket has expanded its coverage again and is now available in Milwaukee and Madison, Wisconsin as well as Racine and Kenosha areas. In total, 2.4 million people living in the Milwaukee metropolitan area can now purchase Cricket’s unlimited services at five retail stores and more than 100 dealers.
Commenting on the announcement, Leap Wireless’s president and CEO (Leap is the owner of Cricket) Doug Hutcheson said: “Launching service in southern Wisconsin is our first step toward building a significant Cricket footprint in the upper Midwest, which will ultimately include coverage stretching from Milwaukee to Chicago, a market that is scheduled to launch in the first half of next year. We are pleased to provide residents with a contract-free, no-credit-check wireless service, as well as create more than 200 new jobs in the market. We believe that people will see the extraordinary value in both our wireless voice and broadband service offerings.”
Cricket rate plans range from $30 to $60 per month and include unlimited anytime minutes, U.S. long distance, text and picture messaging, text to Mexico, mobile web, directory assistance, nationwide roaming minutes and more.

Cricket sounds like it may be a promising company offering very competitive rates and options. For those of us not in Wisconsin, there are other new breakthroughs we can capitalize on to reduce the cost of our current cell plans. Many cell subscribers are taking one key route in particular to slash their bills. Customers with plans by Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and US Cellular are seeing substantial savings achieved through a company called Validas.
The name of the Validas website, http://www.fixmycellbill.com, gives a good idea of what they do. Within seconds, Validas analyzes your online cell bill and calculates how much money you could be saving on your plan. As a firsthand example, Validas was able to save me over 19 bucks every month on my Verizon Wireless plan–or over 230 dollars per year. If you choose, for a nominal fee of $5, Validas will provide a highly detailed cell bill adjustment report that is easily emailed to your wireless provider in order to make the cash saving changes that Validas specified. I would highly recommend checking out this service to any cell subscriber who wants to cut costs, especially since Validas tells you for free whether or not you can save any money on your plan.
