Not that this is a ‘light’ story, but I like to throw down something a little out of the ordinary on Fridays. To that end, I came across this story of a .22 caliber pistol housed in what looks to be a mobile phone.

The gun which is made up to look like a mobile phone (albeit an out-of-date one) was found by Italian police during a search of a property in Naples. The search was conducted as part of the fight against the mafia in the region. The gun is capable of firing four .22 bullets in quick succession. Getting the gun ready to fire is as simple as sliding the keyboard section out of the way (yes, a true slider!). To fire, the user simply had to strike buttons 5 to 8 on the front keypad, and the bullets excited through the antenna at the top. There’s even a dummy display on the front to give it that real, authentic look :P

Whomever designed and put together this gun sure did a great job. However, one gets to thinking if they should maybe design a newer looking model. You know, perhaps an iPhone version of the gun, or a BlackBerry Storm gun? I suppose those devices might be a little too thin in profile to pull the gig off. Oh well.

I can’t say that I own a mobile phone gun (or any gun for that matter), so I guess I’ll stick with my shoe phone. It’s not a gun, but that’s fine… I don’t want a gun :)
