Seems like the Nokia E71 on Rogers is turning into a bit of a saga. Ok, maybe not a saga, but the story does change with each passing day. Yesterday good ol’ Simon reported that the Nokia E71 was now available on Rogers for $99.99 (on the usual 3-year contract). Today, new news has come out.

The latest news has different pricing and details from Rogers on the E71. My friend John over at MobileSyrup went ahead and popped his head into his local Rogers store. He noticed that the Nokia E71 was there, but low-and-behold, the pricing was a tad different. As you can see from the snap above, they’re currently running a promo that puts the device at $49.99 on the 3-year contract… with a minimum $45 voice and data plan. Gotta love it when Rogers decides to ‘soft launch’ a device… and then include even more sneaky discounts when you actually pop in to see it in-store! If you’re jonesing for the Nokia E71, I don’t think you’re going to do much better than $49.99 (at least in Canada).

I got this phone on August 27th 2008 and it’s absolutely amazing! I highly recommend it, but buy it outright and don’t worry about putting it on a 3 year plan. Don’t be a slave to your contract.
