HTC Touch Diamond Comes to Rogers for $199.99
By James Falconer on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008 at 9:00 AM PST In HTC, New Hardware, Rogers
After much waiting, Rogers (NYSE: RCI) has finally released the HTC Touch Diamond for a pretty good promo price of $199.99 on a 3-year contract. You’ll also need to sign up for a minimum $45 data/voice plan, but that’s nothing unusual.
If you’d rather stray from the norm and pick up the device sans data plan, here are your pricing options:
- 3-year contract: $449.99 (Voice only)
- 3-year contract: $499.99 (Data only – WTF? True, this IS available…)
- 2-year contract: $549.99
- 1-year contract: $549.99
- Month-to-Month $599.99
The cool deal about the Rogers HTC Touch Diamond, is the back of the device is actually cut like a ‘Diamond’… With all of the faceted edges. Looks really cool. The Bell and Telus (NYSE: TU) version of the device has a flat back to it. From a design standpoint I like the idea of the ‘diamond’ style backing… But for usability and such, the flat backing sounds more utilitarian. Setting it down on a table with a flat back just makes more sense to me. Setting a device down with an uneven surface doesn’t seem right. Maybe I’m getting a little too picky here. Depends what you like.
Key features of the Rogers HTC Touch Diamond:
- TouchFLO 3D interface
- HSPA/Edge/Wi-Fi
- Windows Media Player
- 3.2 MP camera with flash, auto focus and video
- Built-in GPS
- 4GB of internal memory
- Weighs 110 grams
- 2.8 inch (640 x 480) VGA display
- Runs on Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional
If any of you regular and die-hard fans of IntoMobile are thinking about buying me an xmas present… The Rogers HTC Touch Diamond will do just fine. Simply sign me up for the 3-year dealy-o and I’ll be very, very happy. Thanks
Note: Just did a quick scan of the Rogers site, and I can’t find the HTC Touch Diamond available online… yet. At least not in my area. I’m sure it will pop up soon, perhaps after the initial in-store promo pricing is complete.

1. I want to buy this device for $99.00, not a cent more.
2. I want a $25 monthly plan, with regular voice and unlimited data. 3 year contract is fine.
that is when i will buy. it is crazy: $45, still not full data, you have to end up to pay like $70-$80 month after tax and fees. My cable plus internet is like this number.
I think anohter idea will be better: a PDA with wireless internet connections, anywhere(none exists yet, but i hope there is one), then i will make phone call via VOIP. OK, if wireless internet advance enough, then i just need a PDA for: home phone, internet, cell phone, long distance. Cost: less than $50 per month after tax. I don’t see why it wouldn’t work.
