I have the Storm and let me tell you that it is nowhere near scratch resistant.
I had it in my pocket with a plastic hotel room key for about 3 hours. I walked
no more than quarter-mile and the screen is absolutely ruined! Replacement screens
aren't available on the market yet so I'm suffering in the interim. Anyway, don't
fall for that silly video/rumor. Get a screen protector and case.

Ok, so if you look when he rubs that stuff on the screen, he obviously wasn't even pressing that hard because the backlight never went off when he pressed it with all the crap he scratched it with. I say stick with a screen protector. Better safe than sorry!!

That's an interesting test, however not so many of us carry such knives in our pockets. :) What we do have in our pockets though, or I should rather say 'what our pockets are made of' is BLUE JEANS. I managed to scratch 2 handsets (unintentionally of course) in the following manner:

I wore a new pair of jeans (that haven't been washed yet) and put a phone in my right pocket (not the left one) since only on the right side do we have the THIRD pocket. It's usually made of jeans, unlike the regular cotton cloth that's used for the regular pockets. That so called 'condom pocket' ends precisely where the phone display is, just above the middle, actually.

During my two-hour walk in the park the phone was rubbing against the seam (that's my guess) and since it was a new pair of jeans, microscopic particles of 'sand' or some other substance that's used to give them the vintage look could be found on the fabric. That absolutely killed the screen. That, in fact would probably kill any screen, call it Blackberry, iPhone or Nokia.

Do you want to prove me wrong? ;)
