Croatia is getting its first MVNO, Telcro, which secured a network leasing contract with T-Mobile (NYSE: DT) Hrvatska.
The company has reportedly secured funding from twenty investors, most of them from Croatia and some from the U.S., and has scheduled to launch its services during the summer of 2009.
In an interview with the local newspaper, Telcro’s Kresimir Profaca expressed his optimism for the new venture, despite the fact that Croatian market is being saturated with penetration level of 120%. However, thanks to multiple SIM ownership – the real penetration rate could be as low as 60%.
All in all, it will be interesting to watch how the first MVNO plays out in Croatia…
