blackberry storm verizon left RIM expects lower profits despite BlackBerry Storm successThe BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) Storm, with its click-able SurePress touchscreen, has generated some serious sales for Research In Motion. RIM saw record one-day BlackBerry subscriber add with the launch of the Storm, and has since seen weekly subscriber records. But, despite the Storm’s success, RIM has lowered their financial outlook for the third quarter.

RIM has announced that it expects Q3 revenue to hit somewhere between $2.75 billion and $2.78 billion, down from the earlier projection of $2.77 billion to $3.10 billion. Furthermore, net subscribership to RIM’s BlackBerry service is now expected to hit 2.6 million new users, dropping from the 2.9 million subscribers expected previously.

RIM co-CEO points to “product launch timing, general economic conditions and foreign exchange volatility” as reasons for his company’s lower third quarter expectations.

I think alot of this outcome for rim has to do with them not being able to get the 8900 out the door before christmas. The curve series was easily rim’s most popular phone before this point. After all the curve was the best selling smartphone in the u.s. in october. Now, I’m not sure if it was even scheduled to come out in ‘08 or whether they just couldn’t get it carrier approved, but had it, I think rim would be singing a different tune.

Success? Did someone say… despite BlackBerry Storm success??? Wow! What have you been reading? BlackBerry Storm seems to be going downhill. All the reviewers out there have been bashing the Storm. Guess it’s back to the drawing board for BlackBerry Storm developers. Guess the new firmware updates might restore some faith on BlackBerry Storm… find firmware and BlackBerry News @ http://smartphone-guru.blogspot.com/search/label/BlackBerry%20Storm
