Those of you chomping at the bit to own Sony Ericsson’s newest flagship smartphone, the Sony Ericsson (NYSE: SNE) XPERIA X1, will probably already know that Sony Ericsson’s goal to release the handset in the US on Black Friday didn’t exactly go according to plan. The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1a (the US variant of the X1), was reportedly pulled at the last minute to fix some unmentioned bug. But, all’s not lost. Sony Ericsson should be putting their XPERIA X1a stock back on shelves this week.
Engadget Mobile is reporting that the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1a should be shipping from Sony Ericsson’s headquarters, with freshly updated firmwares in tow, sometime this week. We’ll keep an eye out for those of you with a fistful of Benjamins waiting to be traded for the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1’s 3-inch WVGA touchscreen, 3G data connection, GPS, WiFi, slide-out QWERTY keyboard, and Panel UI.
The rest of us will just look on with envy.
[Update]
The SonyStyle.com website lists the XPERIA X1a as “Out of Stock.” Expected ship date is set for Janurary 12, 2009.
