MobiTV announces 5 million subs reached!

Mobile TV service MobiTV has announced it has cracked the 5m barrier with it’s subscribers – starting in 1999, and adding 500K plus a year (on average) is superb – Congrats on that one guys!
MobiTV is available (in the US) for customers on AT&T (NYSE: T), Sprint (NYSE: S) Nextel, and also Alltel. In a stat-attach for our readers, more than 1m subs signed up in the last 5 months – that is impressive for any mobile service!
Apparently MobiTV is in the process of upgrading the video tech it uses – so I’d imagine that would be the encoders, streaming servers, and (probably) bitpipes they use – 3G/3.5G is now becoming more ubiquitous, as are devices that can handle better quality video.
