I guess we all know classic publishing business has seen its better days — i.e. they’re dying quickly. Still seeing a major company like Penguin Group going iPhone caught me surprised, nevertheless. They have released a native application for iPhone and iPod Touch to stay in touch with their customers while on-the-go.

From Penguin iPhone app you can find about latest Penguin releases, read latest posts on Penguin Blog, listen to Penguin podcast, read tons of interviews and essays as well as exclusive chapter excerpts. But the news doesn’t stop there — for the future releases Penguin wowed to include e-commerce capability for print, ebook and audiobooks! Now that would be something – read an excerpt and instantly buy the whole “thing.”

At the moment, the application is available only in English, but considering how global Penguin’s business is, it’s fair to bet other languages will be supported in the near future, as well. Here’s a link to the AppStore (iTunes) from where you can grab the app for free.
