The Cameraphone: tool of office party espionage!

As the party season takes a firm grasp and shakes us by the dancing shoes, I wonder if the camera module on lots of mobile devices is going to be getting a good workout? What with the ubiquity of camera now found on devices (very few don’t have one), stills, and increasingly video, can easily (and sneakily) be captured. From your boss doing karaoke, through to Jake and Tasha quietly nipping off to the stationery cupboard, it’s all fair game?

I wonder too whether in the new year we are going to see a hoard of images appearing on facebook, myspace, flickr, and so on – with people in various states of drinking / dancing / undress / gurning / passed out…and so on!

This year, perhaps more than ever, everyone is a potential “citizen journalist” – whether it’s within the confines of a corporate’s office, or out in public in a bar/club/hotel etc – frivolous behaviour is all up-for-grabs and capture on internal memory and/or memory cards.

I’ll make a prediction – we are going to a see a new round of those “Mastercard…… priceless” Ad send-ups (not real Ads!) in the new year, but this time the image capture will have been almost exclusively on mobile devices.

Just wait, Mid-January will roll round and your friend will forward you a ZIP file, with a bunch of JPG images in it – you’ll open the images and find a series of images that have had text added like:

Penguin outfit – $50

Vaseline – $6

Permanent Marker – $7

Booze – $180
