GetJar Delivers 10 Million Downloads of Opera Mini

GetJar, the world’s most popular portal for downloading applications and games for non-iPhones, has now hit 10 million downloads of Opera Mini.
Apparently, this is significant for a couple of reasons:
That’s a lot of mobile phone owners who have decided to upgrade the built-in browser on their phone to a more modern browser.
- It’s proof that GetJar is good at connecting software developers with their target market.
- It’s another indication that mobile applications are part of mainstream consumer technology.
- GetJar provides an open environment for over 200,000 application developers and millions of consumers, with over 10,000 unique applications available to anyone with a Java, Symbian, Windows Mobile or Flash Lite-compatible phone.
It’s quite a telling stat – as the PR says, 10m downloads of a browser that surpasses the handset browser means the current browser can’t be that great! Well, good luck to GetJar I say, and carry on the good work!
