Wikipedia gets an official mobile website

I’m not sure why it took so long for Wikipedia to optimize its website for mobile devices, but what the heck – it’s here now and we love it. Sure, there are bunch of other third-party apps that make Wikipedia render properly on mobile device, but this one comes right from the source. Note here that we’re NOT against third-party solutions — quite the contrary, there are few great apps on the market, especially for the iPhone.

Anyway, to access the world’s user-edited online encyclopedia from your mobile phone, simply point your browser to mobile.wikipedia.org and take it from there. The site is available in 14 languages and even has a “Spoken Wikipedia” setting, which at the moment doesn’t work, but when it start working it should read Wikipedia articles to you. Or so we think…
