Quickly behind their new e-mail application, Alltel has announced a GPS application for the Motorola (NYSE: MOT) V3A, V3C, V3M, V9M and K1M, the Samsung Muse, LG AX656 and AX8600, the BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) Curve 8330 and the BlackBerry Pearl 8110. Now, keep in mind Alltel was recently acquired by Verizon, so we may be seeing some GPS locking to ensure folks are shelling out at least the $39.99 per year, $5.99 per month or $1.99 per day for this navigation app, since it’s Verizon (NYSE: VZ)’s M.O. on the BlackBerry 8330. Here’s hoping it stays there and doesn’t get carried over to Alltel. One way or the other, the app is powered by Trimble Outdoors, a respected name in outdoorsy GPS, and will let users track their travels before, during and after their journeys. Hit up your phone’s Axcess shop to get started, or go to Alltel’s website to check out their other GPS applications.
