alp 30 palm os 1 300x400 Palm CEO Confirms Next Generation Palm OS Nova Already in the WildPalm has a lot riding on its next-generation Palm OS platform, dubbed “Nova.” The struggling smartphone maker, once responsible for pioneering the PDA/smartphone market, is banking on their revamped, Linux-based mobile OS platform to bring the company back into the mainstream. And, from the looks of previously released screenshots, the Palm (NSDQ: PALM) Nova platform should bring a splash of intuitiveness to the Palm Treo lineup.

In a financial earnings conference call, Palm chief executive Ed Colligan touted the new Palm OS “Nova” platform as being integral to the company’s return to profitability in 2010. Colligan confirmed that the Nova mobile OS was already out in the wild, with select third-party software developers already working on Nova-compatible applications. “There are existing developers that we’ve briefed; we want to make sure that we have a robust set of applications as we launch the product, but we haven’t made it a broad-based thing at this time,” Colligan said.

Colligan further confirmed that Nova would make it to market in the first half of 2009, as expected.

Palm is expected to debut the Nova OS at CES Las Vegas 2009 next month.

Nova is not ALP (ACCESS Linux Platform). ALP is from ACCESS, Nova is from Palm. The screenshot you have is from ACCESS Linux Platform.

Doesn’t look too revolutionary to me..

    Hi Will,

I’m afraid you are having a bit of confusion here.

ALP doesn’t have anything to do with Nova, they are completely different OSs. ALP has been announced, Nova still to be and I don’t think screenshots of it are available.

As mentioned here this screenshot is for ALP not Nova! So please update and remove it.

isn’t that embarrassing…? A news site has to be corrected by the uninformed people who supposedly come here to be informed.

I can’t believe how bad things have got.
