Back in October, we saw the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic passing through FCC hurdle. However, at that point, we were talking about the device that used Europe’s 3G frequencies (2100 MHz). Now, we have a new version of Nokia (NYSE: NOK)’s all-touchscreen smartphone getting FCC’s seal of approval. The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic we’ve spotted uses “proper” 3G frequencies to sing along AT&T (NYSE: T)’s 3G network. That’s 850 and 1900 MHz baby, meaning we could expect to see the Tube hitting AT&T’s portfolio in near future. CES is coming and I guess AT&T will use the opportunity to go all official with the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. Stay tuned…

I don’t know why everyone gets hyped up about a US 3G compatible S60 device that’ll work on AT&T’s network and starts to think it will be subsidized and sold through them. Of the 13 compatible S60 devices, AT&T has seen a total of 3 of them (N75, 6650, and eventually the E71i), and even if it did come to AT&T, it would most likely be butchered with their own proprietary firmware.

At $350 a pop unlocked, I could care less about a subsidy.
