Latest Nokia patent suggests we may see a four-way folding Communicator

Nokia may be onto something or at least their latest patent filling suggests so. What we have here is a weird looking phone, which sports kinda bizarre four-way folding mechanism, as you can see from the image above. Scrap that, the patent says there are “at least four device parts,” hinting us we could see a true transformer handset at some point in the future.

Is this an idea for the next Nokia Communicator or what? We’re not sure and we may never know. Still, there’s a hope Nokia can pull something out of it and, like Apple, “re-invent the phone.” ;)
