In a move to no doubt help consumers save a few bucks during these cash-strapped times, Best Buy has announced that they will be offering refurbished iPhone 3G’s at a savings of around $50 less than brand new. The iPhone 3G devices to be sold at a considerable savings have all been returned withing 30 days of purchase… So they’re pretty much brand spankin’ new (at least in my books). The 8GB model will be available for $149, and the 16GB model will fetch $249. Not bad at all… Oh, and the standard 2-year service agreement with AT&T is mandatory. Can’t forget that.

Scott Moore, the Vice President of Marketing for Best Buy Mobile commented:

“This is focusing on customers’ needs, trying to provide as wide a range of products and networks for our consumers…”

Good on Best Buy for providing a cheaper alternative to those consumers that want to pick up an iPhone… But are concerned about the price. There’s no doubt this move is also in response to Walmart and their now current efforts in selling the iPhone 3G direct from their stores as well. Competition is tough… Times are tough… and Best Buy is looking to help out consumers while selling as much product as they can.

If you were planning on picking up an iPhone 3G anyway, and don’t mind a few miscallaneous dents and dings… This sounds like the ticket.
