Rumor: Palm Pre Pricing Details Leaked?

If you haven’t seen the new Palm Pre device, I highly suggest you get in gear and check it out. The Palm Pre is the first device from Palm that actually has me somewhat excited! That’s something I haven’t said about Palm in years and years. Thankfully for all of us, Will was able to get a hands-on video of the Palm Pre. Make sure you check it out for a full look at the device that ‘could’ turn things around for Palm, together with their new WebOS (looks very slick!).

But I’m not posting here to tell you about all the specs and features… This little tidbit comes in the form of some pre-availability pricing that seems to have slipped out. Poor Palm. One of the biggest pieces of info missing from yesterday’s Palm Pre presentation at CES was of course, the pricing specs. Well, thanks to Eldar Murtazin of Mobile-review, we have some (rumored) numbers to think about. According to his sources, the Pre will launch at a price-point of $399. Ouch.

I was hoping to see the device fall into line with the competition at $199, but what the heck do i know? Compound that with the fact that RIM, Apple and other manufacturers are no doubt working hard to pump out new devices in the coming months (good ol summer launches), if the $399 pricing is correct, it kind of leaves me scratching my head.

As usual, file this one strictly under rumors for now, as it’s early days. We’ll have to wait for official word from Palm. Lets see what shakes down. Until then I can’t wait to get the Palm Pre into my techno-dweeby hands to try the darn thing out hands-on. CES is going great for you Palm, lets keep this up!
