Sprint (NYSE: S) has recently added a new 3G USB modem to its offering. It’s the Sprint Mobile Broadband USB Modem 598U by Sierra Wireless, which offers a “convenient and reliable mobile solution that allows subscribers to connect to email and online applications as efficiently as they do at the office or at home.”

The EV-DO Rev. A-compatible device provides users with average download speeds between 600 kbps and 1.4 Mbps and upload speeds average 350 to 500 kbps. In addition, the 598U is fully backward compatible with EV-DO Rev. 0 and 1XRTT technology for use in areas where EV-DO Rev. A is not yet available.

Finally, Sprint’s new USB modem also features a built-in GPS receiver, as well as a microSD expansion slot that supports memory cards of up to 32GB, and that effectively enhances the modem’s functionality making it work as an USB flash drive, too.

Interested? The Sierra Wireless USB 598 modem is available for free with an appropriate two-year data plan. Sprint’s website have all the details…
