Rocketship Apple: docked, and porting data!

So finally, after the long-winded process that has been the porting from Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) over to Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) at home (both computer and mobile), I’d say we are virtually there! Right now, on a weekly basis, it’s a training process to how the various data can be ported from, to, and between the platforms, and applications that run on them.
Contacts and Calendar have already jumped ship, although Calendar maintains an over-the-air sync between Outlook, iCal, Google (NSDQ: GOOG), and iPhone! Media for now resides on the PC, and porting this smoothly could be one of the biggest challenges – but then that is what the InterWeb is for – someone, somewhere, will have done this before!
Over time, my satisfaction with the Apple O/S is growing, especially as personalisation and app install occurs apace – although ironically I am still full Windows in the work environment.
My question is whether any IntoMobile readers have done, or are planning to do the same thing… there are certainly some unique challenges in getting multiple platforms to play nicely together, certainly in respect of sync anyway.
Once the entire the data port is complete, I will be writing a post, detailing how it was managed – right now there are some little details to work out about maintaining the coherency of data (especially the metadata on files) as they get ported!
More on this soon……..
Ben
