mshp Kaspersky Mobile Security 8.0 released in betaKaspersky Labs released the beta version of its solution for protecting smartphones – Kaspersky Mobile Security 8.0. Apart from boasting standard anti-virus, anti-spam and firewall modules – the new version also adds other apps to the mix:

  • SMS-Find – allows users to locate their lost phone using GPS. By sending an SMS with a password to the number of lost device, user receives a response to a reference to the phone’s location on Google (NSDQ: GOOG) Maps.
  • Anti-thief – enables remote locking of the phone, preventing the thief to access personal information stored on the phone. Another option is to completely clear phone’s memory by sending an appropriate text message.
  • SIM-Watch (previously called Kidnapper) – invisibly sends the owner a message with a new phone number of your device.
  • Parental Control – enables parents to restrict calls and sending SMS to predefined phone numbers.

In addition, Kaspersky Mobile Security 8.0 can also work as a white-list enabler, allowing communication with authorized contacts, only. Likewise, there’s a black-list option, too, that simply blocks communication (calls and text messages) from defined numbers…

More information about Kaspersky Mobile Security 8.0 is available from Kaspersky Labs’ website.
