nokia motorola logos Motorola and Nokia have 90% of Chinese Smartphone MarketTelecomtiger.com is reporting that Motorola (NYSE: MOT) and Nokia (NYSE: NOK) are owning the smartphone market in China – it could be 90% of the market that is being swallowed up between the two of them! The results have come from a study based on data from Q3 2008.

Apparently Nokia is (well) in the lead with 69%, then Moto is in there at 20%, with HTC and Samsung following up with (much) smaller numbers.

Other data that came from the study (which isn’t named unfortunately, ’cause I’d like to read it) is that O/S-wise, Symbian is well out there in the lead at over 70%, with Linux and MS Mobile following. It is suggested that Android could change this significantly, and I’d agree – what I wouldn’t bet on is the timescale for it…..
