UK: Vodafone powers up the National Grid…

The National Grid has signed a £5m+ deal with Vodafone (NYSE: VOD) UK to move it’s mobile comms to the Operator. It will be a 3-year contract, and Vodafone will provide a series of business solutions for NG personnel.
Interestingly, Vodafone will also provide telemtery SIMs that help detect problems in the elec and gas grid. As we know, triangulation from mobile networks can be quite accurate indeed, and the fact that it’s going to be used speaks volumes I think.
