SoundClip is a new iPhone accessory that duplicates the effect by cupping your hand. The simple piece of plastic snaps on the iPhone’s bottom around the speaker, creating a pocket to amplify and most probably, redirect sound. As a result, SoundClip promises a 10dB increase in volume between 6kH and 20kHz.

When it’s not connected to the iPhone, you can attach SoundClip to iPhone’s charging cord…

In a nutshell, it’s far from being an essential accessory. On the other hand, you could think of SoundClip as an $8 reminder tool, not to cover the speaker with your finger. The question remains – is it worth it?
