Regardless of hardware niggles and craptastic firmware, RIM’s BlackBerry Storm has apparently been tearing it up on Verizon’s network. Verizon Wireless today announced that they’ve gone Platinum with the BlackBerry Storm – the leading US wireless carrier has sold an impressive 1 million Storm units since its launch last November!

The number, while impressive, might have been higher had Verizon managed to pull off the BlackBerry Storm launch smoothly. Alas, buggy firmware and limited stock on hand may have kept Verizon from pushing out more Storm handsets.

But, with Storm firmware updates leaking out to the interwebs on a fairly regular basis, the BlackBerry Storm may soon be able to realize its full potential. How long until Verizon sells 2 million BlackBerry Storms?
