Quickoffice Premier 6.0 for Symbian S60

Quickoffice released a new version of its popular mobile office suite for Symbian S60 smartphones. Quickoffice Premier 6.0 prides itself to be the only mobile solution to provide full viewing and editing capabilities of native Microsoft Office 2007 documents on S60 devices.

Among the improvements included in the new version we highlight:

  • Ability to view password protected files
  • ZIP file support
  • Word count (finally!)
  • View Microsoft Excel 2007 (.xlsx) charts (no, you can’t make them)
  • “Go To Cell” in Excel worksheet
  • Support for transparent .PNG images
  • Improved and easier to use file manager interface

Just like previous releases, version 6.0 retains file formatting with no data loss, so you could continue editing documents on a computer.

If you’re one of the lucky owners of the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic smartphone, you’ll be sad to know this release of QuickOffice Premier is NOT optimized for the touchscreen. Guess Quickoffice will be rolling out the new, touch-enabled version just in time of the Nokia N97 release.

As for the price, it costs $39, while existing QuickOffice Premier 4.5 and 5.0 can upgrade for $15 and $10, respectively.
