Sierra Wireless Watcher 3.1Sierra Wireless has released a new version its Sierra Wireless Watcher connection manager for use with the Sierra Wireless HSPA modems. Version 3.1 of the application features a modem-network dashboard reporting important information such as modem status, connection status, network signal strength, roaming information, as well as a quick launch button tray to provide users with quicker access to the most popular features.

The updated status window has clear 2G/3G and connection technology icons, allowing users to quickly determine available coverage. As a result, network speed expectation is determined and, hopefully (for the network operators at least), a number of technical support calls is reduced.

Additionally, Sierra Wireless Watcher 3.1 optimizes the PC for mobile broadband network use by increasing the number of concurrent HTTP connections, producing up to 50% faster web page download time.

The updated version also bundles GPS application support. By clicking on the GPS icon in the quick launch button tray, GPS monitor is opened to report the number of satellites acquired and other location information. There is also a map button within the GPS monitor that exports the current location to third-party mapping tools… More information about Sierra Wireless Watcher 3.1 is available from Sierra Wireless’ website.
