As expected, Canadian carrier Fido has launched the BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) 8100 Pearl. Being the little brother of Rogers (NYSE: RCI), Fido’s in a spot to pick up the stock dregs, but to be perfectly fair, the original Pearl runs all the same e-mail, applications, and multimedia of the latest BlackBerrys, it just lacks the bells and whistles like Wi-Fi and GPS. This is Fido’s first BlackBerry, but now that they have the e-mail plan in place, it might not take long to see the likes of the Curve, or even the 8800. Grab your old-school Pearl at Fido for a mere $25 on a three-year plan (which can be as low as $15/month for just e-mail).
