IM+ for Skype

While we’re still waiting for the official Skype application to hit the AppStore, other companies are not standing still. You can already use Fring or Truphone to conduct Skype calls and now a new contender, SHAPE Services with its IM+ for Skype, is entering the market. Actually, it’s not new, as their application/service was already available through web-based app. The native application uses the same method, relying on the “reliable callback technology” rather using VoIP.

IM+ for Skype allows users to both text chat, and make and take calls with their Skype contacts and to any phone number. Existing Skype accounts and plans can be used, which is a good news especially for the Skype Unlimited or Skype Pro users… Here’s a link to the AppStore from where you can grab IM+ for Skype for $9.99.

Finally, let me add that IM+ for Skype is also available for BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, Symbian, J2ME, Palm and Android smartphones.
