MetroPCS

We always like reading and posting news about expansion of the smaller carriers. That being said I was delighted to see MetroPCS going to the Northeast, in the five boroughs of New York City, Newark, Jersey City and Paterson, N.J., the Greater Boston Area, Worcester, Mass., Providence, R.I. and Manchester, N.H. As a result, people in the areas mentioned above, can start using the carrier’s service without any deposits, contracts signed, credit checks – picking plans that start at $30 a month.

Other positive effect of MetroPCS’ entrance into new markets are so much needed new jobs. Apparently, thanks to this move, they will create an estimated 2,500 jobs by the end of 2009!

Way to go MetroPCS. We encourage you to give them a try. Smaller companies usually take care of their customers much better… More information is available on their website, or from the press release which follows after the jump.

PRESS RELEASE – MetroPCS Communications, Inc., the nation’s leading provider of unlimited wireless communications service, announces the launch of its low cost, flat-rate unlimited wireless services, with no signed contract, in the five boroughs of New York City, Newark, Jersey City and Paterson, N.J., the Greater Boston Area, Worcester, Mass., Providence, R.I. and Manchester, N.H., providing residents in the Northeast the freedom to enjoy the most affordable, flexible and predictable wireless service available.

MetroPCS offers a diverse selection of service plans, which allow customers to talk 24-hours-a-day, seven days a week, and enhanced service options so that residents of the Northeast can create a wireless experience that best fits their lifestyles. With MetroPCS, customers pay by the month, not by the minute, and services do not require a signed contract or deposit. Service plans start as low as $30 per month, and unlimited long distance service to the 48 continental United States and Puerto Rico is available with service plans as low as $35 per month. The first month of service is included with the purchase of a phone and there is no activation fee or hidden charges.

Additionally, MetroPCS offers unlimited family plans and MetroPCS Unlimited NationwideSM. MetroPCS Unlimited NationwideSM allows MetroPCS subscribers to use their affordable, flat-rate, no signed contract service in more than 300 cities in the continental United States. This expanded network is included at no additional charge in MetroPCS’ current $45 and $50 service plans and can be added for $5 per month on other qualified service plans.

These launches mark the continuation of MetroPCS’ expansion into the Northeast, which also includes the Greater Philadelphia Region. MetroPCS’ unlimited wireless service is now offered in all major U.S. regions including the East Coast, Southeastern U.S., Midwest, Central and Western regions.

“These launches truly are a significant milestone for MetroPCS because it is a continuation of our expansion into the Northeast,” said Roger D. Linquist, chairman, president and chief executive officer of MetroPCS. “Our flat-rate, unlimited, low cost, service plans make MetroPCS an affordable, worry-free and planned expense for all value-oriented consumers looking to reduce extra spending and streamline their budgets in today’s economy. With our unlimited service, customers can save significant money each month by eliminating their home phone and having only one phone – their MetroPCS phone.”

In addition to bringing a new low cost, flat-rate wireless service, MetroPCS’ entry into the market will provide a positive stimulus for the local economy by creating an estimated 2,500 jobs by the end of 2009.

Continued consumer demand for MetroPCS’ wireless service, as well as entry into new markets such as the five boroughs of New York City and the Greater Boston Area, have been the driving factors behind the company’s growth to 5.4 million subscribers nationwide.

Consumers can visit any of MetroPCS’ current Northeast authorized dealer locations and company-owned retail locations or visit MetroPCS’ web site at www.metropcs.com to sign up for service plans, choose from a lineup of wireless phones from the top handset manufacturers, and receive a complete list of locations where expanded coverage is offered.
